Nearly 550 guests and volunteers came together at United Way’s 6th annual Helping Hands Auction and raised over $24,000 for children and families in need in Lincoln and Lancaster County. The event, held at the Embassy Suites, featured silent and live auctions. There were over 250 silent auction items, and twelve unique packages were up for bid at the live auction including an Omaha getaway with condo rental, dining, gas and entertainment gift certificates, which sold for over $1,000. Guests also had the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork by local artist Anne Goddard. The proceeds will provide diapers and clothing for children in our community, as well as support the elementary school Kidney Health & Education Program.
Julie Gade, Vice President and coach with Leadership Resources, was the night’s emcee in conjunction with Russell Puchalla, who was the auctioneer. A photo booth, courtesy of FOTObrations, and a unique collaborative art project added to the festive atmosphere. Jennifer Wooster of Ameritas Life Insurance served as the Auction Chair, and Kelly McKeever of Nelnet served as Vice Chair. More than 100 volunteers, corporate and individual sponsors were a vital part of the event’s success.
