J. Paul McIntosh, a man who has long advocated for those who have overcome personal adversity to turn their lives around and become contributing members of society, will himself be recognized for his many contributions to the welfare of his community and state as the 2013 Nebraskan of the year.
On February 12, Lincoln’s Rotary Club #14 celebrated the Norfolk businessman’s many accomplishments by naming him the Nebraskan of the Year. The award is given annually to a Nebraska resident who demonstrates honesty, integrity, and concern for others; service in charitable and civic causes; and leadership and significant accomplishments in professional and volunteer activities.
Organizers noted that McIntosh has played an instrumental role in helping the Wesley Center, a childcare and crises nursery center, acquire their new building which allows for expansion and improved services. Since 1989, he has made more than 50,000 individual visits to shut-ins, hospital patients, residents of nursing homes and Veteran’s home patients.
