City Impact is seeking scholarship assistance to empower Lincoln’s urban youth through values-based, fun summer camps. Each year City Impact sends some of Lincoln’s urban youth to Kids Across America Camp in Missouri and Camp Sonshine in nearby Roca.
Staff and volunteers accompany the youth on these adventures and families are asked to have some ownership by paying $25 towards camp, often a sacrificial stretch.
The total cost for each camper to attend camp is $360 for Kids Across America Camp and $180 for Camp Sonshine. This year, 30 youth will attend Kids Across America Camp and 40 will attend Camp Sonshine.
The vision of Kids Across America camp is the same as City Impact’s; “to see restoration to urban communities by the presence of active, young indigenous leaders. The campers are challenged to take responsibility for changing their neighborhoods by being visible Christian leaders and making disciples.”
