Complete Children’s Health Partners With Community Action Head Start

On May 10, children and families enrolled in Community Action Head Start (www.communityactionatwork.org) were invited to participate in the program’s annual Family Wellness Festival. The event, sponsored by Complete Children’s Health, provided a “one-stop-shop” for Head Start families to get information about helpful community resources from over 15 local organizations including Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department, Lotus Yoga, UNL Extension, and more. Children and families also got to enjoy a healthy snack and participate in fun activities focused on health and wellness.

“We are so thankful to Complete Children’s Health for partnering with us to host our annual Family Wellness Festival,” said Jill Bomberger, Early Head Start and Head Start director at Community Action. “The experiences children have in their first five years of life set the stage for their long-term health and development. This great event – which brought in partners from all across the community – gave families the information they need to best support their children in their most important developmental years.”

Community Action Head Start provides high-quality early childhood education to 421 of our community’s most vulnerable babies, toddlers, and preschoolers at no cost to families. The program’s Dual Generation approach – geared toward breaking the cycle of poverty – targets children and their caregivers to provide early learning, health, mental health, nutrition, and family support services.
