Friendship Home Opens Registration for 19th Annual Safe Quarters
On Sunday, October 3, over a thousand Friendship Home (www.friendshiphome.org) volunteers will head out to Lincoln and surrounding neighborhoods for the 19th annual Safe Quarters. The goal of the event is to knock on every household door, in Lincoln and surrounding area communities, to collect financial contributions for victims of domestic violence and raise awareness of the life-saving services Friendship Home provides. Safe Quarters is Friendship Home’s largest annual fundraiser. In 2019, over $100,000 was raised, as a result, Friendship Home was able to save and change the lives of over 1,500 victims of domestic violence.
Teams of volunteers are needed to walk Lincoln neighborhoods. A team generally consists of 8–15 members, all ages are encouraged to participate. Volunteers will receive t-shirts and collection buckets for the drive. You can help provide “safe quarters” to someone in crisis.
Funds collected during Safe Quarters go towards Friendship Home’s mission to provide safe, confidential shelter, crisis services, and ongoing support for families who have experience domestic violence and are rebuilding their lives. To access safe emergency shelter and services, call Friendship Home’s helpline at (402) 437-9302. To learn more about services or register a volunteer team, go to www.friendshiphome.org.
