Gateway Sertoma Golf Tourney Raises 65K Fore Tabitha Meals on Wheels Program

Lincoln’s Gateway Sertoma Club (Tabitha.org) and nonprofit Tabitha—Nebraska’s industry-leading senior care provider—recently joined forces and welcomed golfers to play for Tabitha Meals on Wheels. While the 18th annual event at NuMark Golf Course felt and looked different, golfers did not disappoint and continued their tradition of donating generously to support the program. The event raised $65,000 for this lifeline program, which has served the Lincoln community for 53 years and is needed now more than ever due to the looming pandemic.

Donations from the outing will help provide 10,400 meals, safety checks, and friendly visits to 500+ Lincoln neighbors who rely on this daily delivery to remain independent and safe at home. Eighty-three percent of meal recipients say a volunteer is often the only face-to-face interaction they have in a day. In addition, 81% of recipients are unable to afford the cost of a meal. Tabitha won’t turn anyone away in need of a nutritious meal, and community contributions are crucial to ensuring that everyone is served.

Supporting friends and neighbors for over 130 years and encompassing 28 Nebraska counties, Tabitha offers a range of services from results-driven rehabilitation, accessible at-home health care, innovative living communities, and compassionate hospice services. Learn more at Tabitha.org.
