The sixth annual Harvest of Traditions festival will celebrate Nebraska’s rich Latino heritage with a “Fiesta on the Prairie,” on Sunday, October 7, 11am-5pm, at Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center, three miles south of Denton at 11700 SW 100th Street.

This fun, family-friendly event will feature traditional Latin American music, poetry, dance, stories, crafts, and performances by Mariachi Zapata, Echo Poético, Susire Hernández, and Jose and Linda Garcia. Cristina’s Restaurant in Crete will supply authentic Mexican food, available for purchase from 11-2, followed by demonstrations and samples of other Latin American dishes. There will also be plenty of opportunities to learn about and enjoy the prairie. Admission is a $5 suggested donation, free for children 12 and under.

The event is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Folklife Network (NFN), Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center, and Doane College.
