Junior Achievement of Lincoln has been awarded a $25,000 grant from State Farm to provide financial literacy education in Lincoln. This partnership will focus on seven Lincoln elementary schools by providing financial literacy education to more than 2,000 K-5th students. With this grant, JA will be able to offer financial literacy education taught by a community volunteer at no cost to the students.

The State Farm grant presentation took place at on Saturday, February 28 during the JA Bowl-a-thon at Parkway Lanes, 2555 S 48th Street. The participants began bowling at noon directly following the presentation. More than 1,500 participants bowled at the 2015 Junior Achievement Bowl-a-thon this year. This is JA of Lincoln’s largest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds will fund JA’s financial literacy programs in Lincoln’s schools at no cost to the schools.

Nearly 40 State Farm employees are among those who volunteer each year to help deliver the JA program to Lincoln schools. The JA curriculum helps students understand economics by focusing on the roles of earning and saving, working and careers, communities and business.
