Lighthouse, a nonprofit after-school program for middle and high school youth, has hired two new staff members and promoted two staff members.  Ella Wiles joins Lighthouse as an Education Program Coordinator. Wiles has a degree from Doane College in both Elementary and Middle School Education and has taught in both Hershey and Nebraska City, Neb. She brings a diverse experience as a camp counselor over many years working with a wide range of ages. Wiles is also currently pursuing her master’s degree.  Denise Robeson began at Lighthouse this summer as Program Coordinator. Robeson has a Bachelor’s Degree from UNL in Psychology and Sociology. Since 1999, she has worked for a variety of nonprofit organizations in the Lincoln community serving youth and adults.  Falah Al-Hirez has been promoted to Facility Manager/ Volunteer Coordinator and Mengistu Kuwa was promoted to full time Education Program Specialist from a part-time staff member. Both were once AmeriCorp members at Lighthouse and are alumni of Lighthouse.

The Lighthouse After-School Program offers middle and high school aged-youth academic support, evening meals and enrichment/recreational activities during non-school hours, Monday through Friday, twelve months a year. Lighthouse provides a safe harbor during the high risk after school hours with a primary goal of increasing the likelihood of high school graduation, all free to youth.
