Four Nebraska restaurants have been selected as state winners of the 2013 Restaurant Neighbor Award and are now in the running for the national award that rewards community service.

Runza Restaurants have partnered with TeamMates Mentoring Program to host annual fundraisers at participating Runza locations, and have contributed a total of $55,429.31 to the TeamMates organization since 2009.  TeamMates works with school systems, administrators and teachers to identify at-risk children and teens.

The employees of Cappy’s Hotspot Bar & Grill in Lincoln join together and contribute to numerous charities every year. In 2012, they helped raise over $38,000 for two separate individuals stricken with cancer.

Dish, located in Lincoln, is involved with many community programs including Dine Out to Help Out and the Food Bank of Lincoln. Dish also participates in chef auctions raising money for the Junior League of Lincoln and the March of Dimes.

Wheatfields Eatery & Bakery, located in Omaha, generously supports the Poor Clare Sisters of Omaha. The owners help to organize an annual raffle, donate food, and co-chair the committee for the dinner and auction for the Poor Clare Sisters.
