A crowd of supporters came to The Railyard on Thursday, September 3, 2015 to cheer on 12 teams competing in a variety of one-minute challenges. Funds raised help support The Hub (www.hublincoln.org) , a local nonprofit, which works with young people ages 16 to 24 who face barriers in their lives to obtain a GED, find employment and get the support they need to become self-sufficient.
Teams represented companies including sponsors The Frederick Group at UBS and underwriters, Inspro, Five Nines, Cornhusker Bank and Jantzen Law Office. Other teams were composed of youth, partnering agencies and other business supporters including Ebbeka Design who donated the design of the event logo.
Nebraska Global’s team took home first prize in the competition. Team Scrantonicity, featuring the family of Dwight Brown, won first prize in the costume contest.
“This was such a fun event and was a great way to bring together youth and professionals for some friendly competition,” says Nola Derby-Bennett, Executive Director at The Hub. “Having so many supporters come and cheer for the cause was a great thing for The Hub.”
The HUB is a 501(c)(3) providing support and access to services for young people transitioning into adulthood who are disconnected from their family and the community. Through education, employment and empowerment programming, youth find hope and success.
