Nebraska Area Hospitals to Participate in American Heart Association’s Little Hats, Big Hearts™ Project

This February for American Heart Month, the American Heart Association (www.heart.org/HEARTORG/)  is partnering with 25 hospitals across Nebraska, and one in Council Bluffs, IA, to distribute handmade knitted or crocheted red hats to newborn babies as a part of the Little Hats, Big Hearts™ project. The project aims to raise awareness about cardiovascular diseases, the No. 1 killer in the United States, and congenital heart defects, the most common type of birth defect in the country, occurring in one in 100 births.

Nebraska hospitals that are participating in Little Hats, Big Hearts™: Beatrice Community Hospital and Health Center (Beatrice), Box Butte General Hospital (Alliance), Bryan Health (Lincoln), Chase County Hospital (Imperial), Cherry County Community Hospital (Valentine), CHI Health Bergan Mercy (Omaha), CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center (Omaha), CHI Health Good Samaritan (Kearney), CHI Health Immanuel (Omaha), CHI Health Lakeside (Omaha), CHI Health Mercy Council Bluffs (Council Bluffs, Iowa)*, CHI Health St. Elizabeth (Lincoln), CHI Health St. Francis (Grand Island), CHI Health St. Mary’s (Nebraska City), Children’s Hospital & Medical Center (Omaha), Columbus Community Hospital (Columbus), Community Hospital – McCook (McCook), Faith Regional Health Services (Norfolk), Great Plains Health (North Platte), Howard County Medical Center (St. Paul), Lexington Regional Health Center (Lexington), Mary Lanning Healthcare (Hastings), Memorial Community Health Inc.
