Tabitha Seeking Volunteer Drivers to Help Deliver Meals on Wheels to At-Risk Residents

Since the start of the pandemic, Tabitha (www.tabitha.org) has seen their number of volunteers decrease at the same time the number of people who require their services continues to climb. Every day, Meals on Wheels volunteers distribute about 500 hot-and-ready meals to at-risk people in Lincoln. During the last decade, they have witness 62% growth in the number of people seeking the service, and Tabitha continues to say yes. Access to proper nutrition is often one of the last factors allowing seniors and those with disabilities to remain safely at home. Tabitha’s service provides an invaluable face-to-face safety check, as well, for many medically vulnerable individuals who might not see another person all day.

Food provided by Tabitha Meals on Wheels is well-balanced, fresh, healthy, and prepared by Tabitha’s nutrition department in a professional foodservice kitchen. Meals on Wheels clients receive a nutritious meal, and their families receive peace of mind knowing that a volunteer is checking on their loved one with every meal delivery.
