TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln Celebrates Mentors, Mentees with Awards for Service

On January 26, TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln (LincolnTeammates.org) hosted a virtual Recognition Celebration to honor mentors, celebrate mentees who have made great strides, and recognize the hard work of the school facilitators who organize mentor matches in their buildings. Nebraska football legend and TeamMates co-founder Tom Osborne shared some gracious comments, and participants gained insight from a student speaker.

All told, 40 students nominated their mentors for induction into the Mentor Hall of Fame; 26 mentors received the Decade of Difference Award to commemorate 10 years of service; and 32 students won the Student Achievement Award upon nomination by their mentors. The students were recognized for feats such as improving grades, participating in extracurricular activities, and maintaining positive attitudes through a difficult school year. One student expressed his gratefulness for TeamMates like this: “I appreciate everything (my mentor) has done for me. It means a lot when he says how proud of me he is.”

TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln makes a meaningful impact in the local community and beyond by inspiring youth to reach their full potential through mentoring. Matches meet once a week in school during the academic year. TeamMates also offers Zooms twice a month for remote learners and mentors who request to meet virtually instead of in-person.
