The TeamMates Mentoring Program of Lincoln works closely with community partners to grow the school-based mentoring program and match local mentors with area students in grades 3–12. TeamMates has aggressive goals for 2014, which includes increasing the number of active mentor/mentee matches to 1,250, raising $220,000 from local businesses and individuals and awarding 30 scholarships to graduating mentees. TeamMates is proud to partner with Nelnet, a Lincoln-based education planning and financing company, that employs approximately 1,500 in Lincoln and 2,500 across the country. Nelnet offers services to help families plan, prepare and pay for education at all levels, making them a natural partner for TeamMates. Nelnet is dedicated to supporting the community, and associates volunteer with the TeamMates program by taking an hour each week to provide support and encouragement to a student who needs an additional caring adult in his or her life. The company also gives back with corporate donations, and matches associate donations through the Nelnet Foundation. A recent billboard campaign, launched in September, highlights organizations Nelnet sponsors, including TeamMates, the Learn to Dream Scholarship program, the United Way and Junior Achievement.  For more information about Nelnet, visit www.Nelnet.com.
