At TeamMates, our 2015 resolution is to continue to double our impact on Lincoln’s youth by providing a caring adult mentor to 1,350 children by June 2015. There are more than 600 young people that are ready to be matched with a mentor; however, one is not available to them. In order to serve the current mentor and mentee matches and close the gap between the number of children needing a mentor and the number of available caring mentors, the TeamMates program relies upon community partnerships.
The program enjoys the support of many businesses, service clubs and faith-based organizations. Many of the current partner organizations provide funding and greatly assist with mentor recruiting. Partnership activities include hosting recruiting events within the organization, facilitating, or in the case of businesses, giving employees time off for in-school mentoring, providing college scholarships and hosting benefit days or other fundraising activities. For businesses and organizations, partnering with the Lincoln TeamMates school-based mentoring program offers a method to make a positive impact on the future of Lincoln. Organizations are shaping the lives of future employees or members.
