The 14th Annual YMCA Youth Sports Adventure Run returns Saturday, July 4, at Wright Park, inviting families to spend part of their holiday weekend running, climbing, and sliding through a two-mile obstacle course while supporting local families.

“We encourage the entire family to walk or run the course together,” said Todd Johnson, executive director of YMCA Youth Sports. “Not only is it a chance for families to take part in a morning of healthy activities, but in doing so, they’re giving back to our community.”

The family-friendly event, hosted by YMCA Youth Sports, welcomed more than 200 runners and their families last year. Proceeds benefit the YMCA of Lincoln’s Annual Fundraising Campaign, which helps ensure children and families can access YMCA memberships and programs regardless of financial circumstances. Funds raised through the event help local children participate in YMCA programs including youth sports, swim lessons and summer day camp.

Participants may register for one of three start times: 9 a.m., 9:45 a.m. or 10:30 a.m. Registration is $20 per participant, increasing by $5 after June 22. Participants registered by June 21 are guaranteed an event T-shirt.
