This year’s YWCA Lincoln Tribute to Women will remember a legendary woman as well as honor and support women of today.  “Timeless Allure: The Lessons, Leadership and Style of Sally Gordon” will be Thursday, September 13th starting at 5:30 pm at the Grand Manse on 129 N. 10th Street.  In addition to the annual award ceremony, there will be an auction of Gordon’s unique collection of hats, jewelry and accessories.  Funds raised from the auction will benefit women served by YWCA programming.

Sally Gordon passed away on Valentine’s Day of this year, just shy of her 103rd birthday.  Her remarkable life included working for three Nebraska Governors and becoming the first female sergeant-at-arms of the Legislature, serving 27 years in that role, all while raising a family and living life to its fullest.

The award ceremony will include the annual Gladys Forsyth, Chrysalis and Tribute to Women awards.  A newly-created Sally Gordon Award will be added for presentation to a woman who encompasses the inspirational qualities held by Sally herself: a positive attitude, a deep interest in others and class which is without equal.
