Jim Garver, Vice Chair of the Southeast Community (SCC) College Board of Governors announces he is running for reelection to his at-large seat on the SCC Board of Governors. SCC encompasses a 15 county area in southeast Nebraska.
Garver was appointed to the SCC Board in August, 2007 and won election to his first full term on the SCC board in November, 2008. Garver also serves as an Associate Member of the American Community College Trustees Board and was a member of the Lincoln Public Schools Board of Education from 1985 through 2005. He is a past President of the Near South Neighborhood Association. Garver said he wants to continue the rapid progress that SCC has made the last few years.
The SCC board will have a major task facing it with President Dr. Jack Huck’s retirement scheduled for mid-2014. In early 2014, the board will be looking for a quality person to lead SCC into the future. Garver’s experience during the hiring of the last three Lincoln Public Schools Superintendents will be of value when SCC hires a new President for the college.
