Lighthouse
is proud to announce the hiring of Billy Vrtiska as Assistant Director. Billy began working with Lighthouse as a volunteer in 2005 while he was attending college at SCC. He graduated with an associate’s degree in Human Services in 2007 and was later hired as a volunteer coordinator in 2010. His promotion within the organization culminated with being named program director in 2012, but he parted ways briefly with the Lighthouse in June of 2013 to journey away from the place he called home for 28 years and pursue opportunities outside of Nebraska. Billy recently returned home after travelling across the country and was hired back on at Lighthouse as assistant director in December. He is excited to return to Lighthouse and proud to continue his work with the local nonprofit—providing teens with numerous educational and life resources, nutritious meals, safety and love.
The Lighthouse After-School Program offers middle and high school-aged youth academic support, evening meals and enrichment/recreational activities during non-school hours, Monday-Friday, twelve months a year. All programs and services are offered to participants without cost. Lighthouse is located at 2601 N Street, Lincoln, NE, 68510 and also operates two school-based sites at Northeast and Southeast High Schools.
