Three Nebraskans are the recipients of annual awards presented on October 30th by the Nebraska Society of CPAs
. JoAnn M. Martin, President & Chief Executive Officer of the Ameritas Company and Chair, President & Chief Executive Officer of Ameritas Life Insurance Corp of Lincoln, was the recipient of the 2013 Public Service Award. David E. Lechner of Lincoln, Vice President of Business and Finance of the four-campus University of Nebraska system, was the recipient of the 2013 Outstanding CPA in Business and Industry Award. Dr. Thomas A. Shimerda, an Associate Professor of Accounting and Chairman of the Accounting Department at Creighton University in Omaha, was the recipient of the 2013 Outstanding Accounting Educator Award.
Founded in 1928, the Nebraska Society of CPAs, with nearly 2,700 members, is the premier professional association for CPAs in Nebraska. The mission of the Nebraska Society of Certified Public Accountants is to enhance the professional success of the members; to encourage the maintenance of high professional standards; to facilitate relationships among the members; to further the professional knowledge, competence and performance of the members; to promote a better understanding of the services rendered by members; to promote the accounting profession; and to act in a representative capacity for the profession.
