Casey Kaufman originally wanted to be a professional makeup artist, and, after pestering many famous artists around the world, she was told over and over that she would be more successful as a makeup artist if she did hair too.  She took the challenge, went to hair school and realized she really enjoyed doing hair.  She now works at I?S Salon, a highly trained and educated salon close to Lincoln’s Historic Haymarket, where her main focus is on creating cut & color styles to fit her clients lifestyles.

Tell us a little about your family.
I am so incredibly lucky to have a family that is so hilarious… that is huge to me!  I have a father who tells epic, suspenseful real life stories, a mother who laughs until she cries at almost everything we say, and a brother and sister who have my exact (if not better) sense of humor.  Funny family.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Possibly moving back from California.  I would say moving there, but when I came back I felt like I had grown as my own person, could take charge, and lead my life.  I went to hair school and took marketing classes when I returned to Nebraska.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Work on my fashion blog.  I have a ton of fun, and I have wonderful people helping me out with it.  It’s grown exponentially since I first started it this year!  www.strawberryfreckleface.blogspot.com

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I am scared of ketchup.  When it is on my hands, not in my mouth.  The smell, the color, everything.  It freaks me out.  A phobia, maybe?

What are you the most proud of?
Sticking with my goals.  I wanted to move, so I did.  I wanted to be successful at hair, so I am where I am now.  I wanted to lose weight, so I’ve been doing Beachbody workouts religiously for 2 years now.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
Your thoughts aren’t always true. It has helped me through problems, through insecurities, and has helped me give my friends and family advice.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
Move to the Southwest.  I love the dry desert heat, the hiking, everything.  Some day.

How would your friends describe you?
Honest, trustworthy, sarcastic, open, logical, and weird.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
Silence.  I can go for days without saying a word if given those days.

Which talent would you most like to have?
It would be awesome to be able to make my own metal and raw stone jewelry.  Maybe that’s where the Southwest comes into play…

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wish I had more energy.  I could accomplish so much more!  I could check off goals so quickly.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
I’m currently reading Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey.

What is your favorite movie?
I could watch Grandma’s Boy over and over.

What is your favorite TV show?
The Office, or Death Note, or maybe Curb Your Enthusiasm.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
Depends on my mood.  Blue Orchid or El Chapparo.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
A caveman.  Any caveman will do.  Well, not the Geico caveman.
