Tell us a little about your business. – Like our slogan states, we specialize in “Comprehensive Eye Care and Quality Eye Wear” for you and your family. As of January 1st, we changed our name to Eyes on Lincoln. I wanted a name that was truly creative and unique and that people would easily remember, and I feel we have created that.  We feel our customer service is what sets us apart. We want every patient who leaves our office to feel that he/she was treated with respect, given great service, and had a good experience throughout all phases of the exam.

How did you get started in the business? – I was interested in optometry as a kid because it is what my dad does, and I looked up to him. I got started in Lincoln with the help of my close family friend and partner, Richard Powell, OD. I worked at the practice as a student so this made for an easy transition as one of the doctors.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – My most important achievement to me was being voted best clinician in my graduating class by my clinical faculty. I considered this a great honor.

Tell me a little about your family. – I have a wonderful fiancée, Megan who inspires me and lights up my life. She has my heart and is my soul mate.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – The biggest turning point in my life was when I decided to return to Nebraska after optometry school. I cannot imagine being anywhere else than Lincoln. This city means a lot to me and I wanted to incorporate that into the name of the practice.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I enjoy anything outdoors from golf to hunting and fishing. A likely spot to find me on the weekend would be out relaxing and fishing a local lake.

What are you the most proud of? – I am most proud of our office and the staff we have assembled. I am constantly reminded by our patients how much they mean to the practice and I am grateful for the outstanding job they do every day.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Keep everyone’s best interest in mind and everything else will work itself out.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – If I weren’t in eye care, I would love to be the CEO of a major corporation like Apple or a real estate tycoon.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki.

What is your favorite movie? – I like comedies and some of my favorites are Anchorman, Wedding Crashers, Step Brothers, Despicable Me 1 & 2, and the Shrek movies.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – We enjoy our neighborhood restaurant, Toast and also Greta’s Gourmet. Both have amazing food!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Steve Jobs. He was truly an innovator, could lead by example and was a master of motivation.
