Before joining Talent Plus, Kara Bunde-Dunn felt she had not found a place where she felt appreciated for her attitude and was rewarded for her achievements.  She had heard amazing things about the culture at Talent Plus and felt her natural abilities and past experience in education and sales would fit well within the organization and she turned out to be right and is now lucky to be able to say she loves her job.  Talent Plus is a research-based firm that specializes in the scientific selection and  development of top performers. They partner with companies to help them achieve  positive, high-performance cultures.

Tell us a little about your family.
I grew up in Southern Minnesota where my immediate family still lives (mom, dad, brother, sister-in-law and nephew). I have been blessed, however, to marry into an amazing family right here in Lincoln. My husband, Alex, and his family have taken me in as one of their own!

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
When I was in college I chose to study abroad in both India and New Zealand. Those experiences helped to shape my thought process encompassing a more global point of view.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
On a day off you can find me racking up a high score on the golf course, watching a sporting event with my husband, playing a mean game of poker or playing t-ball with my 2-year-old nephew.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
We are converting our family corn and soybean farm in Southern Minnesota into a grape farm.

What are you the most proud of?
I am most proud of the values, work ethic and caring heart instilled in me by my parents. In addition to working hard, I have been honored to sit on the current JDRF Board of Directors and have participated in Big Brother’s Big Sister’s program for the past 3 years.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“I mean you no harm, I seek your greatest good.” Jim Meehan, senior leadership consultant, Talent Plus

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
See every country in the world before I die — talk about a long bucket list!

How would your friends describe you?
Talkative, generous, analytical, a little silly and incredibly loyal.

Which talent would you most like to have?
Patience.   It just isn’t in me very often.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I am pretty happy with who I am, but I certainly wouldn’t turn down my husband’s metabolism.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
I recently finished Bossy Pants by Tina Fey and Decision Points by George W. Bush.

What is your favorite movie?
Hoosiers — hands down the best movie!

What is your favorite TV show?
I don’t know if I should admit it — The Real Housewives and Parenthood.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
It is a tie between Lazlo’s and Fireworks, with The Oven as a close 2nd.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
My grandma Alice was the neatest lady and I would have loved to know her into my adulthood. Other than her, I certainly would like to talk with Maya Angelou, Nelson Mandela, Abraham Lincoln and Barack Obama.
