After receiving her Fashion Design and Merchandising degree in 2004, Lindsey Alegria moved back to Lincoln where she managed several retail boutiques before being asked by her friend Jennifer O’Dell to manage a new boutique she was opening in Omaha.  The boutique, Beyourself, took off and became so successful that not only did they need to hire more help, but they also decide to open a Lincoln location this year.  Beyourself has a specific mission to help women feel beautiful in their own skin as well offering affordable, unique items to the shoppers of Nebraska.  Their stores carry size 2-20 and they don’t use traditional sizing.  They go by a color dot system that focuses on the fit and feel of the clothing rather than the size.  The beyourself company consists of The Giving Tree in Omaha, beyourselfonline.com and the two Beyourself boutiques.

Tell us a little about your family.
I have been married for almost seven years.  I have three amazing sisters, two of whom live here in Lincoln, and we are all very close in age.  My other sister is turning 15 and lives in York.  I also have a 6 year old niece and 4 year old nephew.  The other part of my family is my dog Riley.  All I can say about him is that he is spoiled rotten.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Definitely becoming part of this company.  It has changed my life in so many ways and I am thankful that I actually enjoy going to work every day.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I love spending time with my family and friends.  I usually make a trip to my sister’s house to spend time with my beautiful niece and nephew.  They are probably two of my favorite people and they always brighten my day!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I would have to say my ability to quote movie lines of my favorite movies.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
“You have to learn to take responsibility for yourself and your actions.  We all make mistakes, but the only way you can grow is to own up to them, learn from them and move on.”

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish?
I would love to travel to Europe.  There is so much history and beautiful architecture there that needs to be seen in person.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?
Probably my singing voice.  However, if you asked any of my employees they would probably disagree.  I like to sing out loud to whatever song we have playing in the store.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I honestly wouldn’t change anything.  I believe that everything happens for a reason and all of your life experiences, good or bad, make you who you are today.

What is your favorite movie?
Love Actually, Arthur, and pretty much any John Hughes movie from the ‘80s.

What is your favorite TV show?
Right now I would have to say Modern Family.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant?
Shogun.  I mainly go there for their sushi.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
I should probably say someone really influential in the world, but I will be honest.  I would have to pick Ryan Reynolds because I really enjoy his quirky humor.  Not to mention he is very easy on the eyes!
