Sandy Higdon was in the process of looking at a management position when she was recruited by Physicians Mutual to be an agent.  She thought it sounded like something she could really excel at, so she decided to give it a try.  It was the best professional decision that she has ever made and she continues to work for Physicians Mutual Insurance Company, a leading insurer in individual health, life and retirement products.  As an insurance agent, she helps provide solutions for her customers.

Tell us a little about your family.
My husband Ron and I will be celebrating our ninth anniversary on May 31. We have two children, Kalee (7) and Ryder (4). My husband is an Assistant Director in charge of Wrestling for the Nebraska School Activities Association. Kalee loves reading books, riding her bike, playing outside and has become very involved in gymnastics and softball. Ryder loves candy, playing at the park, jumping on the trampoline and is very excited to start t-ball this spring.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
I love spending time with my husband and my kids. We love to go on bike rides, play dodge ball in the back yard and go to the park. This last winter we took them snow skiing for the first time. I also love to golf when I can find the time.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I love adventure. I will try anything once. I’ve been sky diving, rode in a hot air balloon, gone parasailing, cliff diving and scuba diving. I have also been bungee jumping and zip lining. I competed in a 3 day adventure race in Colorado with one of my brothers. I guess I am a thrill seeker.

What are you the most proud of?
Earning 10 NCAA All-American honors in Track and Field. I am also very proud of my husband and my two children. I couldn’t imagine going through life without them.
