Tell us a little about your business. – Oak Electric, Inc. is a premium full service electrical contractor that provides exceptional services to the Lincoln and surrounding communities. We offer residential and commercial electrical services.
How did you get started in the business? – In high school we built a house for credits and I was watching the electricians work and thought that would be something I could see myself doing long term. I love the challenges and opportunities to continue to learn.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – My biggest challenges were learning the calculations because I’ve always been more of a hands-on type.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Passing my Journeyman Exam was my first major accomplishment. I had opportunities to run larger jobs like apartment complexes.
Tell us a little about your family. – My wife and I have been together for 18 years and we have three amazing children (two boys and one girl).
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Passing my Contractor’s Exam was a major turning point for me. The amount of responsibility and level of teaching is what I love the most. I enjoy learning and teaching the trade.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my family. Typically watching the boys play basketball and watching my daughter dance. When I’m not busy with that, I enjoy golfing.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – One of my hobbies is roasting coffee.
Who inspires you? – My dad has always been an inspiration, in my life he has taught me to just take it one day at a time.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Always do your best, even when nobody is watching. Being average is easy, so always go the extra mile.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Positive.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – Country Roads by John Denver.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – My sense of humor.
Which talent would you most like to have? – If I was 6’7” – that would help! Haha.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – A Chef.
What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why? – I don’t have a specific organization, but I am passionate about giving back every chance I get. It’s important the we help others who cannot help themselves.
