With a background in nutrition, a husband who is an orthopaedic surgeon and one son studying business management and the other studying exercise science, opening a fitness facility as a family business just made sense to Carol Bozarth.  Refinery Fitness, LLC began with the idea that they wanted to provide a fitness facility that first time exercisers would feel comfortable in, but still provide an awesome facility for the experienced. They are an adult-only facility, and have members from age 18 up to 70+.

Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to Dennis and we have two sons.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Moving away from Nebraska for five years. Nothing will make you grow up faster than when you move to a new state and you don’t know anyone but your spouse!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – A mid-afternoon ‘siesta’ is always good. I seem to come up with solutions to problems or really great ideas when I just completely relax!

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I don’t fit the description of a marathoner, but I like to “walk” marathons, both full and half. My next big event will be the Goofy Challenge at Disney. That is where I will walk/run the half and the next day walk/run the full marathon. It really is all about the medals! lol

What are you the most proud of? – Some people thought I was certifiably nuts, but I purchased a farm house at an auction in rural York county that needed to be moved. After contracting the house mover, we completely stripped it down to the 2×4’s and refurbished it to its old grandeur, stripping paint and old finish from the woodwork, rehanging an original pocket door and making it functional for today’s lifestyle.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – My grandmother told me to always keep my ability to laugh.

What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – I would love to author a book!

How would your friends describe you? – My friends would say that I try to find the positive in things, keeping things upbeat. If they want an honest opinion, they know they will get it from me.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Not sure it is a great talent, but, I like to remodel homes and repurpose “things” for different uses.

If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? – I could make this into a bullet point list, but I probably would start with being more organized with my paperwork!

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Loved the book Atlas Shrugged!

What is your favorite movie? – I love animation. I see so much artistic talent there!

What is your favorite TV show? – The Voice.

What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant? – I think I could eat at LaPaz every day! Yum!!

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – Napoleon Hill.
