Tell me a little about your business. – We bought a franchise called OdorOut in 2007 and that became Sniferz in 2008. Our main business has been providing routine and specialized deodorizing services to a mix of auto dealers, property management companies and homes on the market to sell.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Every aspect of starting a business in a niche market that was relatively unexplored has been a challenge. The little voice that whispers “just give up” was heard frequently, but I’ve just been too bullheaded to listen to it.

Tell me a little about your family. – I grew up right where we live now on a small farm close to Lincoln. My wife Sheryl is from Byron, NE and we have been married 32 years. We have three grown children, two sons here in Nebraska and our daughter, her husband and our granddaughter who live in Houston, TX.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Asking Jesus Christ to be my Savior in 1993.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Work on our farm/acreage or golf with family or friends.

What are you the most proud of? – Probably my marriage–the process of growing together, becoming one, and raising our kids. Those are indescribable blessings. I married way above my pay grade.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – A customer once told me that “Mistakes are your friends; they only become your enemies if you don’t learn from them.”

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Thankful.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I really enjoy writing as it allows me to put thoughts, ideas and themes into a cohesive and interesting context.

Which talent would you most like to have? – To be able to hit the golf ball over the moon like my sons do.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Coaching or managing baseball at the Major League level.
