Tell us a little about your business. – We are a full service salon with a talented team of five stylists, including myself, who are very knowledgeable and experienced. At Partners ‘n Hair we strive to make every customer’s experience a great one, and we offer a wide variety of services and are flexible with both scheduling appointments and walk-in clients. We look forward to continued growth and will always be there for our customers when they need us.
How did you get started in the business? – I’ve been working as a stylist for about 12 years. I originally started doing hair as a temporary job until I “grew up.” I never thought I would stick with it this long—but I LOVE what I do!
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The transition from being an employee to ownership of the business.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Becoming an owner and still working as a stylist. It can be really difficult to balance both roles.
Tell us a little about your family. – I was born and raised in Lincoln, and I’m proud to call it my home. I’ve been married to my wonderful husband, Mike for 10 years. We have two four-legged “kids”; Binx is my ill-tempered orange cat and Brady is our Brittany spaniel.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Getting married. It’s not easy–you have to work at it every day. There is a lot of compromise involved, but it’s completely worth it!
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Lunch and shopping with a friend or hanging out at home with the Mr., a book, and the “kids”.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I’m a terrible dancer, but you can still catch me bustin’ a move. I also love cars and 90’s music.
What are you most proud of? – All of the wonderful friendships I’ve made over the years.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – Stay true to what you believe in.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Honest.
If you had a theme song, what would it be? – The Jeopardy theme song. I love trivia!
Which talent would you most like to have? – I wish that I was a better speller, and also that I had some sort of musical talent.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Either a baker or a chef, except I don’t like getting up early or staying up too late.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – I love mystery and suspense, so anything by Michael Connelly, James Patterson, Robert Crais or Janet Evanovich.
What is your favorite movie? – I hate to admit this, but my favorite movie is The Godfather.
What is your favorite TV show? – I can still watch Friends and Seinfeld over and over again. I also really like Modern Family.
What is your favorite local restaurant? – Oh tough choice! My top three are El Toro, 9 South CharGrill, and Vincenzo’s.
If our readers would like to contact you, how should they do so? – By phone at (402) 483-7376 or stop into the salon and say hi!
