On April 22nd Cornhusker Bank will be celebrating One Day Without Shoes. This event helps draw awareness to the plight of those in our community who are in need of footwear. Once again, Cornhusker Bank is partnering with local businesses and organizations to collect both used and new shoes, as well as monetary donations to benefit the People’s City Mission.
Cornhusker Bank and various businesses throughout Lincoln will have People’s City Mission collection barrels in place for shoes between April 14th and 26th. On Tuesday, April 22nd, the bank will be hosting a walk from their 1101 Cornhusker Highway Location to the People’s City Mission, starting at 11:00 a.m. A free lunch will also be served at the bank for those attending the event. Cornhusker Bank staff members will go shoeless at work on the 22nd.
The previous three years of this event netted nearly 19,000 pairs of shoes and monetary funds totaling over $25,000. Even shoes in such poor shape they cannot be worn, are recycled for cash funds benefitting the Mission.
Cornhusker Bank remains Lincoln’s oldest locally owned bank, demonstrating stability, soundness and continued commitment to the success of its valued customers, associates, and the local community. For more information about Cornhusker Bank please visit CornhuskerBank.com.
