The film uses 3M’s microreplication process, a technology in which researchers create precisely shaped pyramids on the surface of the film that are exactly alike, in order to redirect light toward the ceiling which reduces the need for artificial light during the day. This precision enables the properties that utilize 3M Daylight Redirecting Film to reduce glare and move more natural light into occupant spaces as it acts like a shelf that redirects the light while blocking ultraviolet rays to minimize fading of carpets, furniture and window fabrics.
