Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers is kicking off their 8th annual coat drive, which will run from October 1 through November 2, 2014. New and gently used winter coats are being collected at all three Lincoln restaurants (48th & R | 14 & P | 28th & Cornhusker Hwy.) and will be donated to the People’s City Mission, and to those in need through the Homeless Prevention Center. In appreciation, those who donate will receive a free meal when purchasing another Combo + drink.
Since its creation in 2007, supporters have helped donate over 8,800 new and gently used coats to the People’s City Mission. “When we moved to Nebraska from Louisiana in 2006 we quickly learned how harsh Nebraska winters could be. Not owning a coat ourselves, we immediately went out and purchased one and it hit us, not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to do that. That’s when we knew we needed to help and what spurred the idea of having an annual coat drive.” said Jennifer Jones, owner of the Lincoln Raising Cane’s franchise. “This year our goal is to raise 2,500 coats. It’s an ambitious goal, but with the help of the Lincoln community, we know we can do it,” she continues.
