Women’s Clinic of Lincoln, P.C. specializes in obstetrics and gynecology and has been providing comprehensive care to women in the Lincoln community for over 30 years. Dr. Rachel Swim is the newest physician to join the team of providers at Women’s Clinic of Lincoln, P.C.
Tell us a little about your business. – Women’s Clinic of Lincoln, P.C. is an OB/GYN office specializing in the health needs of women. Our integrated system of care is designed to promote optimal physical, emotional and spiritual health for women throughout the life span. We focus on both gynecological and obstetrical needs of our patients. We offer many ancillary services all in one location including bone scans, ultrasound imaging (including thyroid), mammograms, counseling and in-house laboratory tests.
How did you get started in the business? – I have always had an interest in medicine and knew I wanted to focus on OB/GYN when I was working this rotation in medical school. I completed my residency in Kansas City, MO and then moved to Lincoln, where I found my ideal practice. I haven’t thought twice about my decision since then.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – The constant changes in healthcare, which include political aspects and insurance companies.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Completing my residency and being honored with two awards, one in Excellence in OB and another for outstanding research project. I also feel very fortunate to find such an incredible OB/GYN practice to begin and continue my career.
Tell us a little about your family. – I am married to Brian Swim, who I met while in college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and we have a daughter, Penelope who will be 15 months old. We also have a dog who loves attention. Our families live in Nebraska.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Becoming a mother and graduating from residency.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spend time with family and friends.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – To be yourself.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To never be tired and to be two places at once.
What is your favorite local restaurant? – It depends on what I am in the mood for, but I will rarely turn down Blue Sushi or Hiro88.
