Discount Enterprises Firearms Sales & Service (DE Guns) was started in 2010 to bring its customers the best products at the lowest price. The original store was located at 66th and Holdrege, but the company outgrew it and moved to 31st and O Street exactly one year ago in June of 2014. In response to demand from customers outside of its headquarters in Lincoln, all of the store’s product offerings are also available online at DEGuns.net with inventory updated in real time. This includes an extensive selection of firearms, ammunition, optics, and related products and supplies. DE Guns has a full time Gunsmith on staff, and offers the best products that incorporate the highest level of technology and safety components on the market. Derek Broman is the owner of DE Guns.
Tell us a little about your business. – We carry a large variety of firearms as well as related equipment and supplies in our store, and our entire inventory is also available online. Our website, DEGuns.net, is mobile friendly, easy to navigate and offers complete specs as well as accurate, up-to-date information such as current pricing, promotions and availability. At DE Guns, we are committed to offering the highest level of customer service and making sure that every customer is happy with his/her purchase. If we don’t carry an item we will do our absolute best to find it for you; no request is ever too big or too small. Our popular Deal of the Day allows us to offer a new, different deal every day in addition to ongoing deals and promotions that are announced regularly. As an added convenience, local customers may purchase items online and opt to pick them up at our store. We also offer specialty services such as repair and even knife sharpening, which can be done completely via mail if preferred.
How did you get started in the business? – I saw a demand and sought to meet it.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Taxes make it almost impossible to keep a small business open in this day and age, so that’s a big one.
Tell us a little about your family. – I’m married to a great lady named Kim.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – I’m usually working all of the time, but when I’m not I enjoy investment speculation of currency and stock options
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I graduated high school a year early but did not choose to go to college.
What are you the most proud of? – DE Guns being a nationally recognized name in the sporting goods business.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Honest.
If you could have a super power, what would it be? – To see the future.
Which talent would you most like to have? – Patience!
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Currency trading.
