Insurance companies are required to submit their rate requests for state and federal review before being approved.
BlueCross BlueShield and Coventry have the largest market share in Nebraska. Those two companies have requested rate increases from 12.4% to 16.0%. Nebraskans could choose from 4 companies in 2015 – BlueCross BlueShield, Coventry Health Care, Time Insurance Company and United Health Care. Time Insurance Company markets their products as Assurant Health. Time has announced that its small group and individual health insurance business is for sale.
