Tabitha, your answer for Elder Care, is pleased to work in collaboration with Aging Partners Health and Fitness in bringing Stepping-On, a workshop series aimed at helping older adults reduce falls by building confidence, to Lincoln. The weekly workshop began on June 25 and will be offered through August 13 (no class July 30) from 9-11 a.m. on Tabitha’s main campus at 4720 Randolph Street.
Stepping-On helps participants identify why falls occur, along with different ways to prevent falls, including strength and balance exercises, home safety check suggestions and a medication review. Participants also have the opportunity to review a display of fall prevention products. The workshop is intended for people who have fallen in the past as well as for those at risk of falling or who fear falling. Guest experts include physical therapists, pharmacists and vision experts.
The program was developed by Dr. Lindy Clemson of Sydney, Australia and was brought to the United States by Dr. Jane Mahoney, executive director of the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging, with funding from the Centers for Disease Control and other partners.
A suggested contribution of $3 per class helps to cover program costs. Contact Aging Partners Health and Fitness at (402) 441-7575 to register for the workshop.
