WorkWell, a Nebraska worksite wellness council and division of the Nebraska Safety Council (www.nesafetycouncil.org) , has announced that it will host a special training event focused on tobacco cessation programming in the workplace on October 19th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at CEDARS Northbridge, located at 1533 N. 27th Street in Lincoln.

“Beat the Pack” is a train-the-trainer tobacco cessation training where you will receive the tools and resources to enhance your company’s tobacco cessation program. The trainers are certified pharmacists and have hands-on experience with workplace tobacco cessation programming. Nancy Bell, Pharm. D., is a Medical Outcomes Specialist in Nebraska and Iowa and Sue Heineman, Pharm. D., BCPS is a National Employer Medical Outcomes Specialist – both represent North America Medical Affairs for Pfizer, Inc.

Tonya Vyhlidal, Director of WorkWell and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department Tobacco Prevention Task Force will present opening statements and the training event will conclude with a presentation by Brian Cross, Bryan Health Wellness Coordinator, entitled “Lessons Learned From The Field: Implementation of Beat the Pack at Bryan Health.”

Cost is $15 for Nebraska Safety Council or WorkWell members and $25 for non-members; registration deadline is October 15th. Registration fee includes a light breakfast, lunch and a snack.
