LUX Center for the Arts Presents First Friday Opening “Monkey Wrench and Warble” by Holly Walker
LUX Center for the Arts (www.luxcenter.org) presents “Monkey Wrench and Warble,” an exhibition by Holly Walker. This exhibition will have an opening reception December 4 from 5-8 p.m.
Throughout Holly Walker’s 35 years working with clay, she has tended to work intuitively, encouraging a great deal of collaboration with the clay. Her pots are hand built, pinching up each layer of rolled coil to build form. Walker approaches the surface of a pot as a painter, brushing colored slips over the raw terra cotta surface, layering multiple glazes after bisquing. “Monkey Wrench and Warble” will be on display in our Folsom Gallery through January 1.
“Wrappable: Gifts from the Heart” work will continue to be available for purchase through December 24. Local, regional, and national artists will sell work including pottery, paintings, photographs, framed prints, jewelry, textiles, wearables, and woodwork at a range of prices in this exhibition. Shop holiday hours beginning December 2: Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Open Christmas Eve from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
LUX Center for the Arts (www.luxcenter.org) is free and open to the public. Free parking is available on the west side of the building just off of 48th and Baldwin. LUX Center for the Arts is located in historic University Place at 2601 N. 48th Street.
