Americans for Prosperity (AFP) Nebraska Reiterates Need for Tax Reform Following Drop in National Tax Climate Ranking

The Tax Foundation released its 2016 State Business Tax Climate Index and Nebraska has fallen one spot in the last year to now rank 27th in the nation. Neighboring states, Wyoming and South Dakota, ranked at the top. Americans for Prosperity (AFP, americansforprosperity.org) will be focusing on tax reform this coming legislative session to make sure Nebraska is more competitive.

In reaction to the recent release of these rankings, AFP Nebraska State Director Matt Litt issued the following statement:

“This ranking is further proof that members of the Unicameral must do something to reform our taxes here in Nebraska. Five of six surrounding states rank higher than us, meaning they are doing a better job of providing opportunities for their citizens. It is discouraging that our ranking dropped from last year. Our organization will continue informing Nebraskans about state taxes, why reform is needed, and the real life benefits of lower, simpler taxes. We look forward to engaging more with elected officials and their constituents on this issue.”
