An Interview with Chelley Baack, General Manager at Headsetters™

How long have you been in serving clients in Omaha and Lincoln?  Our company was founded in Omaha in 1991, so it’s been 25 years now!

Who are the owners/important executives? – The owner is Marvin Holst and he would tell you that we are all important. We’re a small company and working as a team is what has made us successful all these years.

What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours? – We aren’t order takers — we are consultants to our clients for all of their Unified Communications needs. It’s a constantly changing technology that we stay educated on to be able to suggest the best equipment for our customer’s performance and budget needs.

What do you like about doing business in Omaha and Lincoln? – We love working with the people in Lincoln and Omaha because they are all so committed to supporting the local community.

What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with? – We are a member of the Greater Omaha Chamber, Sarpy Chamber, Western Douglas County and Council Bluffs Chambers. We also belong to the Lincoln Independent Business Association (LIBA) and attend several networking groups regularly.

Do you have a business philosophy or mission statement? – In the world of telecommunications, success isn’t given; it’s earned, every single day. This is why Headsetters™ has been earning success in a wide variety of industries from banking and insurance to call centers, healthcare, transportation and communications. Identifying the customer’s need, offering fair and economical pricing, delivering excellent customer support and holding very high quality standards is why Headsetters™ continues to excel.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know? – We started out repairing headsets and selling blank audio cassettes to call centers to record their calls. Our yearly sales included 4.3 million blank audio cassettes, now we don’t sell a single one!

What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years? – As I mentioned previously our business is very techy and everything is constantly changing, but I would say the two biggest changes we’ve seen are the transition from regular phones to VOIP (voice over internet protocol) and the growth of wireless headsets for both business and personal use.

What do you see happening with the business in the next five years? – Our plan is to continue to grow while keeping up with all the new technology and adding to our product line.

What was the biggest turning point in your business? – Overcoming the transition from analog to digital in the audio recording industry and moving forward with the “Wireless Revolution.”

What has been your most important achievement as a business? – We have been very fortunate to recruit and keep a very talented staff. We have a lot of fun doing what we do and that keeps us and our customers very well connected.
