HobbyTown Lincoln Celebrates 10 Years of Ownership
Ten years ago Daniel and Chelsy Schmidt became the official owners of HobbyTown Lincoln (www.hobbytown.com/Lincoln_S-NE/) . Bringing years of loyal customers, notable growth, and a new store, the milestone is one to celebrate.
Over the years, the Schmidts have continued to build a hobby culture in Lincoln. Ranging from R/C cars to games to toys, it’s not hard to find your hobby in their store. With a steady group of gamers attending Friday Night Magic, they intend to implement similar hobby events at their new location opening at 33rd & Cornhusker. For them, it’s always been about enjoying hobbies and the communities surrounding it.
March was a big month, marking the 10th anniversary with a customer appreciation sale at the Pioneer Woods location as well as a Grand Opening event for their new store at 33rd & Cornhusker on March 19.
Nearly half of Daniel’s life has been dedicated to working for HobbyTown in some way. Always having an entrepreneurial spirit made it easier for him and his wife to make the ownership transition. Elevating HobbyTown to the premiere hobby shop in Lincoln is impressive considering its already long history. The HobbyTown franchise got its start in 1980 opening the first store downtown. The Schmidt’s ownership began on March 1, 2006. By the end of March, their two Lincoln locations will be operating at 4107 Pioneer Woods Drive, Suite 108, and 3255 Cornhusker Hwy, Suite B5.
HobbyTown is a national franchise, and the company is widely regarded as a leader in the retail toy and hobby industry. Each store is locally owned and operated. There are currently over 165 HobbyTown franchises open or under development in 46 states.
