CASA to Host Volunteer Training
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) (www.casa4lancaster.org) for Lancaster County is recruiting adult volunteers (21 and over) to advocate on behalf of abused, neglected, truant and ungovernable children in Juvenile Court. Training will take place May 24 – June 28. The class will meet once a week on Tuesday evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. CASA volunteers do their own investigation and write reports that go directly to the Juvenile Court Judge. CASA volunteers speak up for the children’s best interests and give the judge more information on which to base decisions.
CASA for Lancaster County is a local non-profit organization that has been actively recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers for over 15 years. In 2015, CASA for Lancaster County provided advocacy services for over 200 children in the child welfare/juvenile justice system in Lancaster County. CASA volunteers are a child’s voice in court and provide recommendations for much needed services. CASA volunteers provide a caring, stable adult in a child’s life that is sometimes chaotic and confusing. Help to get children to safe, permanent homes by becoming a CASA volunteer.
