Scholarships Available to TeamMates Mentees Offer Fun Summer Opportunities
TeamMates (lincolnteammates.org) mentees are able to participate in several fun summer activities because of community partnerships, generous donations or grants.
TeamMates students, 4th – 8th grade in the fall of 2016, may attend the Abbott Summer Camp tuition-free with receipt of scholarships made possible by the Ethel S. Abbott Charitable Foundation and the Imperial Foundation. The camp features six weeks that run consecutively, June 6 through July 14, 2016, from Monday through Thursday. The campers’ day features team sports and games in the mornings and afternoon field trips to various community locations. The Nebraska Football Leaders Youth Football Camp features instruction and a fan zone session with Husker Alumni NFL players. The camp will take place on June 27, at UNL’s Cook Pavilion. The standard camper fee is $150 per student. A limited number of $100 scholarships to the NFL youth camp are available to mentees in the TeamMates Mentoring Program of Lincoln Public Schools. TeamMates received donations that allow five TeamMates mentees to attend a Bright Lights weekly, half-day camp. Bright Lights is a non-profit that offers engaging, high quality summer learning for elementary and middle school students.
