Lincoln Helps CEDARS Give Kids Backpacks, Dignity
Just in time for Lincoln students to return from summer vacation, local businesses collected and donated new school supplies to children their families who would otherwise not be able to afford them.
Every day, CEDARS (www.cedarskids.org) supports over 1,000 children and youth in such situations. For many of the children and youth served at CEDARS, a great number of other family needs take priority over acquiring school supplies when the time comes each year.
This year, the first day of school felt different for 350 children and youth supported by the CEDARS team as they proudly entered their classrooms with new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies. Generous sponsors and donors that made these gifts possible include Raising Cane’s, Max Tan, Lincoln Southeast Kiwanis Club and Sunrise Kiwanis Club, Mosier/Timperley Chiropractic, Random Act of Kindness, Inspro Insurance, and numerous individuals.
Anyone interested in becoming a CEDARS community partner and helping kids in crisis is encouraged to visit www.cedarskids.org for CEDARS current Wish List or to make a secure, tax deductible donation. Donations by check or money order may be sent to CEDARS Home for Children Foundation, 6601 Pioneers Blvd. Ste 2, Lincoln, NE, 68506. Questions may be directed to Tracy at (402) 437-8820.
