CASA for Lancaster County in Need of Volunteer Advocates
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) (www.casa4lancaster.org) for Lancaster County is recruiting adult volunteers (21 and over) to advocate on behalf of abused, neglected, truant and ungovernable children in Juvenile Court. Training will take place October 24 – November 28, 2017. The class will meet once a week in the evening from 6:00-9:00 p.m. CASA volunteers do their own investigation and write reports that go directly to the Juvenile Court Judge. CASA volunteers speak up for the children’s best interests and give the judge more information on which to base decisions.
CASA for Lancaster County is a local non-profit organization that has been actively recruiting, training and supporting community volunteers for over 17 years. So far in 2017, CASA for Lancaster County provided advocacy services for 218 children in the child welfare/juvenile justice system in Lancaster County. Help to get children to safe, permanent homes by becoming a CASA volunteer. Call (402) 474-5161 for more information or visit CASA’s website, www.casa4lancaster.org for an application form and information about the upcoming training session.
A great way to support CASA is by attending the upcoming fundraiser, a special screening and panel discussion with the writer/director and star of “Father Unknown” on Thursday, October 26, 6:00 p.m. at the Marcus Grand Cinema (11th & P Streets).
