Raising Cane’s Presents Nebraska National Guard Foundation With Over $25K
The local Raising Cane’s (www.raisingcanes.com) franchise recently partnered with Cell Phones for Soldiers for its 10th annual cell phone drive. Individuals were asked to bring in their unwanted cell phones to be recycled and exchanged for calling cards to be given to Nebraska soldiers. In addition to donating phones, customers could provide support by adding any dollar amount to their ticket when ordering in the restaurants.
In just a little over a month, more than 109,000 minutes of talk time from the recycled phones, and over $25,700 in monetary donations were collected and given to the Nebraska National Guard Foundation. “We are blown away by the generosity and support for our local military families,” says Jennifer Jones, co-owner of the Raising Cane’s franchise. “Thank you so much to everyone who dropped off an old cell phone, or donated money. We wouldn’t be able to do this without you.”
The calling cards are distributed to Nebraska Soldiers that are away on active duty, while the money raised helps support a fund for veterans and their families to assist with bills, groceries, gas, or other immediate needs they may have. The calling cards and check were presented to the Nebraska National Guard Foundation President, Doug Carlson, on May 7.
Since 2006, the local Raising Cane’s (www.raisingcanes.com) franchise, Southern Hospitality Ventures Inc., has given back over $1.6 million to the communities in which their restaurants are located.
