Raikes Beef Co. Donates Beef to Matt Talbot’s Hunger Relief Program
Raikes Beef Co. of Ashland, Neb. donated over 3,000 pounds of ground beef to the Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach Hunger Relief Program (mtko.org) in March. The beef is available for hunger relief volunteers to use in the meals they provide to the guests of Matt Talbot. Approximately one-third of the beef has already been used in the last two months.
“This donation goes a long way in helping Matt Talbot provide true sustenance for body and spirit,” said Susanne Blue, executive director. “That much quality beef equals a lot of meals, and is a tremendous help to our volunteer teams who already make a significant investment of time and money. We are so grateful.”
For 25 years and counting, thousands of compassionate volunteers have come to Matt Talbot’s community kitchen to provide, prepare and serve hot nutritious meals to the working poor and homeless in Lincoln. More than 100,000 meals are served every year. The total number of hours provided by hunger relief and outreach volunteers in 2017 was 33,794 and is valued at $790,780 worth of labor. Volunteers also donated the value of $224,442 in food donations for the Hunger Relief Program last year. Learn more at mtko.org.
