DSAF Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk Set for October 6
Down Syndrome Association for Families’ (DSAF; www.dsafnebraska.org) annual event, the Capital City Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk, is to be held at Antelope Park on Saturday, October 6 at 8 a.m. The Nebraska chapter of DSAF has been hosting the event since 2002. This community celebration has grown to bring together more than 1,700 individuals from across the state of Nebraska to celebrate and increase awareness about Down Syndrome. It is the primary fundraising event for DSAF, providing the necessary funding to support its members and the greater community with resources, networking, education, and information.
Since the start of the organization in 1995, every dollar raised has gone to foster family networking, new parent support, and community engagement. DSAF’s Parents First Call Program offers a helping hand to new parents upon receiving their diagnosis. Local doctors and nurses are provided with accurate and positive information and literature regarding Down syndrome, thanks to DSAF’s Medical Outreach Team. Members have opportunities to participate in many fun, age-appropriate activities with their families and friends through the DSAF Stars groups.
Show your support at the event while enjoying live music, face painting, many raffle items, and more! The one-mile walk will take place regardless of rain.
