Gifts to The Gathering Place Soup Kitchen Being Matched $1 for $1

Community Action Partnerships of Lancaster and Saunders Counties (www.communityactionatwork.org) has announced that now through December 31, all monetary donations received for The Gathering Place, a soup kitchen that serves over 29,000 hot evening meals to those struggling with hunger in Lincoln, will be matched $1 for $1.

This donation match is made possible by several generous match sponsors that have contributed a total of $60,775. These sponsors include Hugo & Thelma Aspegren Charitable Trust, Rogers Foundation, Inspro Insurance, Rotary Club #14 Foundation, Bukaty Companies, Union Bank & Trust, Walmart, Rotarian Friends of The Gathering Place, First State Bank Nebraska, and TEK Services.

Community Action empowers people living in poverty to reach economic stability. Its 17 programs address the causes and conditions of poverty in four impact areas: Early Childhood Education, Homelessness Prevention, Financial and Family Well-Being, and Hunger Relief. The holidays are an especially busy time at The Gathering Place. Support from the community is needed to keep pace with the significant demand for hot meals during the holiday season.

The Gathering Place is hoping to receive $60,775 in contributions from the community by December 31, to claim the maximum amount committed by its generous match sponsors.
